Cost & Fees
There is no
charge to the City for the services provided by the OPGs. While
there is a charge to persons whose vehicles have been towed, the
fees are regulated by the Police Commission. Recent surveys
indicate that these fees are lower than most neighboring cities.
Current Fees as
set forth by the Police Commission are as follows:
• Towing:
$104.00 per hour - Standard Vehicles
$201.50 per hour - Heavy Duty
• Storage:
$32.00 per day – Standard Vehicles
$45.50 - $57.50 per day - Heavy Duty Vehicles
(depending on vehicle size)
• City of L.A.
Vehicle Release Fee: $48.00 per each vehicle released
• 10% City
Parking Occupancy Tax collected on storage fees
The OPGs
remitted over 14.1 million dollars to the City of Los Angeles in
2006. This revenue consisted of the following:
• Franchise
Fees (7% Gross Receipt Fee)
• Vehicle
Release Fees
• City Parking
Occupancy Taxes
• Delinquent
Parking Citation fees remitted to the City from lien sale excess
fees
• Proceeds from
sales of Forfeited Vehicles
In addition to
the 12.6 million dollars remitted to the City, overage/excess
fees remitted to DMV from lien sales amounted to $987,913.93 in
2006.*
*A recent audit of this requirement for all towing operations
statewide revealed that nearly 60 percent of the fees remitted
came from OPGs in the City of Los Angeles |
